Yes, in older homes in Sherman Oaks you sometimes see posts like that supporting the original brick chimneys. It's an earthquake safety measure.

This is a nice place, but the price will need to come down a bit, even just given the comps. Note that the Jun 1991 sale at $411K, while sounding reasonable by 2008 standards, is actually a bubble price. You have to discount about 20-25% to get a 1995-1996 price.

Great, but who wants to pay $750k to live next to Van Nuys? I don't mind Van Nuys and have even considered buying there...but I'll be damned if I'm paying over half a mil for this area. I guess the value of the dollar really has gone the way of the dodo bird!

Yeah, I agree with anonymous. These house values are outrageous. Since when is "Valley College adjacent" selling point for a house?
